BIMA RIYANTO

My Long Life Story, Shortened.

Earlier Days

Hi! I’m Bima Riyanto, born on September 21, 1994, in Jakarta, Indonesia.

I grew up in the vibrant southern part of the Jakarta Metropolitan Area, in a dynamic yet happy family. Fun fact: I’m the only boy in the paternal lineage of the Soegiarto family. My father, a former journalist, is still active in consulting for international business and political journalism, while my mother is a loving homemaker who now enjoys being a devoted grandmother to my niece and nephews.

As a kid, I was full of energy—not necessarily excelling in academics, but always showing a strong creative spark. Whether it was writing comic books, tinkering with computers, composing songs, or designing futuristic cars, robots, and monsters, I was always drawn to artistic and technical pursuits. At age 10, I picked up the guitar, which became a defining moment in my life. It taught me discipline and turned my scattered creativity into something more structured.

Teenage Years & Finding My Path

High school was a whirlwind of activities—school projects, band competitions, and organizing events. I loved being involved, which naturally made me one of the most recognized students (or so my teachers said!). With so many interests, choosing a college major was tough. Thankfully, my parents were supportive and gave me the freedom to decide. I eventually chose Computer Science, thinking it would be a solid foundation for my future.

Before starting college, I had already dabbled in small jobs and earned my first paycheck. It was an early lesson in financial independence, and I learned how to manage money even before stepping into adulthood.

University Days & Leadership Lessons

College life was just as eventful. I balanced classes with side businesses, creative projects, and organizational activities. The highlight? Being elected as Chairman & President of the Faculty Student Organization in 2015. That year was intense—full of leadership challenges, high-pressure situations, and personal growth. It was an experience that shaped my resilience and teamwork skills, something many students might avoid, but I embraced fully.

By the time I graduated, I had already completed an internship at a national-scale software company and briefly worked at a startup. But deep down, I realized that the corporate IT world wasn’t for me. Instead, I found myself drawn to the dynamic and creative world of Digital Marketing.

Building a Career in Creative Marketing

My early career was all about hustling. I took on every creative project I could find—building websites for friends’ businesses, helping them grow on social media, and exploring digital photography and videography. At the same time, working in property development sparked my interest in real estate, city planning, and architecture—topics I still enjoy learning about today.

After a few years of grinding, I decided to pursue a master’s degree. And guess what? I chose Creative Marketing—a perfect blend of everything I loved. It wasn’t easy at first, but it became more fascinating as I dived deeper into real-world marketing challenges. It took me four years to finish my degree (thanks to the pandemic), but hey, we all learned a lot during that time, right?

Professional Growth & Beyond

During my career journey, I landed a mid-level management role at a Chinese entertainment IP acquisition company—a short but valuable experience before I moved on to one of Indonesia’s largest professional exhibition organizers.

Working in exhibitions turned me into a workaholic. For four years, I gave my all, running marketing strategies and executing creative concepts for major events. The work was exciting, but after countless long hours and high-energy projects, burnout hit me hard.

I knew it was time for a change. That’s when I took the next step in my career and returned to the property industry, but this time, with a twist—I joined a project to build an exhibition venue instead of just organizing events. A fresh challenge, a new perspective.

So, what’s next? Let’s find out.

For the next chapter of my career, I have always held onto one guiding vision:

“To continuously strive for growth and be involved in bigger and more impactful projects—exponentially.”

This mindset still drives me forward today. What’s next? Perhaps joining a multinational company where I can contribute to large-scale projects with a global impact. Or maybe even taking my career abroad, exploring new challenges, industries, and cultures. The possibilities are limitless, and I’m excited to see where this journey takes me next.
